In her childhood days, her first love was ice skating, and before she blinked she was the Los Angeles City Figure Skating Champion and Artistic Champion, and a protégé of Frank Carroll (coach of Michelle Kwan and Evan Lysacek). She was the Student Body President of St. Matthew’s Parish School and Valedictorian of her class.
At Marymount High School in Los Angeles, Kaitlyn was the Student Body President her senior year, and received the revered Katherine Alfs Caldwell Memorial Award (the most prestigious leadership award given at graduation). When Kaitlyn was 16 years old, she created “Kids Helping Kids,” a charity organization for Los Angeles Children’s Hospital.
At Southern Methodist University (SMU), Kaitlyn was a Hunt Scholar (the most prestigious scholarship in the university honoring outstanding leadership and academic performance). She was also the recipient of the “Kenneth Pye Outstanding Greek Leader Award,” recognizing her dedication to leadership, scholarship, campus involvement and community involvement.
Kaitlyn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Meadows School of Fine Arts; majoring in Journalism, and minoring in Psychology. She was the Vice President Administration of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, as well as Vice President of Panhellenic.
Kaitlyn was the Interactive News Editor for SMU’s “Daily Mustang,” (the multi-media convergent news website), and an active contributing writer. She also enjoyed anchoring and reporting for SMU’s morning news program, “The Daily Update.”
Kaitlyn interned at KTTV Fox 11 Morning News in Los Angeles, assisting in writing stories for on-air newscasts, and assisted field reporters. She enjoyed Interning with the Tennis Channel, providing on-air reporting at events such as “The Mercedes-Benz Cup.” She also Interned at KDAF-TV (CW affiliate station in Dallas) for The 33 News.
Kaitlyn is competent in Final Cut Pro, AVID iNews, Audacity, iMovie, knowledgeable with technical directing, Server, Anchor, Audio Board, CG, versatile with studio cameras, and directing and producing; and savvy with all New Media applications.
